My ghost emerges as I point to the exact spot, on the map of Paris, in the Michelin Atlas Routier. Inset, you can see what I was doing before I entered the SuperVectorizer, to lose all substance, color, and flesh.
Vectors are mathematical formulas describing each segment of a line. The old Logo turtle used to draw a picture by moving in one direction, a vector, leaving a trail behind. That's vector geometry. The software that I use discards everything but the lines, then calculates the vectors ("Move forward three pixels, then turn left, and proceed for forty pixels…").
Once a line is a formula, we can resize at will. Dragging to resize just means changing a few parameters in the formula.
Compare that with working in a paint program, which produces a map of bits…this dot is on, that dot is off…and so on, in a black-and-white image. The bitmap describes the whole territory, where the vectors just follow their noses through that imaginary space.

Our Process
Your picture gets our careful, individual attention.
We print it on a baryta-coated fiber-based satin paper with excellent archival properties, enhanced definition, and extended tonal range. Then we laminate the print to preserve the image against fingerprints and dust. Overall, our printing process takes approximately two weeks.
We then ship the print to you in a solid mailing tube, using U.S. Priority Mail, insured for the full value. We send you an email with the tracking number. Shipping usually takes 2 business days.
